Daughter Time

Micah is healing. Doctor was happy today to see less fluid around his heart. Hopefully in by end of week it will be even less. Micah is still pretty much bound to the house and nearby area to walk.

I (Don) took this opportunity to focus some time on the girls. I took them out to dinner and to an escape room this evening. It was a blast.

We didn’t get out, but we were only one puzzle away from escaping. Most important thing though, we worked well as a team.

The Voyage Home

We had a very uneventful night. Amy had to get up once to give meds, which required food and since food isn’t allowed in the rooms of the Ronald McDonald house that meant she had to go get Micah a bite to eat from the kitchen.

Speaking of RMH, we were treated to a buffet of McDonalds food on Friday night. I am so impressed with the level of care and hospitality the Ronald McDonald House Charities has for all of their clients.

This morning we checked out of the House and packed up the Yukon and headed home. A bumpy ride did leave something to be desired for Micah. He was glad to be back at home and in his bed.

From Surgery to Home was just over 4 days. Now. Ones the fun part of trying to keep him on light duty for six weeks to give his chest time to heal.

If you want to drop him a note you can email us at thejoelfamily@gmail.com.

Thanks for the prayers.

And just like that…

Already leaving!?!?
Resting at the Ronald McDonald House

The day has come Micah has been released from the Hospital. we are going to spend one or two nights at the Ronald McSonald House to be close to the doctor if need be, but Micah has shown such improvement his team feels that he is ready to leave.

I cannot believe how blessed we have been with all the staff at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. The level of care here was amazing. Micah is a little hesitant to leave.

Thank you all for the prayers. I will continue to update you all on the recovery process.

Another Day Of Recovery

Today Micah had to go for three walks, and sit in three chairs. He passed with flying colors, although he did get a little winded by the end of the day. He should have a good night of sleep.

Other highlights: He got to watch YouTube, won a game of bingo, and had spaghetti for breakfast.

Micah’s recovery is going great. We should be headed home sooner than expected. Thank you for your continued prayers.
